Top Notch U400 Made Ready for the Rally Field
This is a Unimog U400 - part of the more modern UGN series which came into production in 2000 and weighs more heavily on electronics in the engine than the older square cab models. The Unimog is a vario drive model which means the steering wheel can easily be shifted from left to right according to the work that is being carried out.
We fitted a 6.5 tonne hydraulic winch and specially made pick-up hitch for this range of Unimogs while it was down at our workshop as well as giving it a full overhaul and fitting a set of new Mitas MPT21 405/70R20 tyres - one of the optimum Unimog sizes.
Its owner has found that his mog is the only truck that can work the rally field without getting stuck in the mud and he likes to give it some TLC - kitting it out with genuine Mercedes seat and headrest covers, complete new head linings and a rubber floor mat in the cab with the word UNIMOG embossed in it. He also had it wrapped in flame orange signage. You can see it here towing his Chieftain trailer and in the background there is a gorgeous 1928 Super Sentinel - one of only 13 left in the world!
