Emergency Health and Safety Site Vehicle for Local
Another ex-military U1300L conversion is now nearing completion and is almost ready to fulfil its new and unusual role for a local nuclear power station. The Unimog has been specially adapted to act as an emergency vehicle in the event of catastrophe at the plant.
It has been fitted with a brand new Fassi 6 ton marinised crane which lifts a special cradle carrying a 1050kg electric hoist with a 22 metre long cable. This hoist will lower a submersible pump into the sea to extract as much water as is required to get the situation under control.
We have fitted some extra bits to the mog to help it carry out this noble task including an adjustable height towing hitch and nato hitch to rear, a PTO unit and pump for the crane and a DV15000 electric winch at the front as well as fabrications to the existing rear body such as the addition of a safety rail, steps and access gate. The mog has been painted in RAL3000 Fire Engine Red to suit its new job and now has the customary flashing beacon and a reversing buzzer too.
